Popular FAQ's

When should I get my oil changed?

You should get your oil changed every 3000 miles or every 6 months (or as recommended in your vehicle's owner's manual).

Here's the most important reason to have your oil changed at specified intervals: At Slemker Auto Care we take this opportunity to fully inspect all your vehicle's systems - from brakes & tires to transmission & cooling systems. At these typical maintenance intervals we can track your vehicle from one seasonal extreme to the next - for example, the beginning of Summer to the beginning of Winter. Your vehicle systems experience a multitude of different demands depending on the season.

Regular vehicle maintenance can extend the life expectancy of your automobile by over 30%.

Wouldn't you rather have the confidence that your vehicle is up to the challenges ahead, instead of finding yourself stranded due to inattention to important service needs? Remember, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

What does it mean if my "check engine" or "service engine soon" light comes on?

There are many sensors and computerized components that manage your vehicle's engine performance and emissions. When one of these fails, the "check engine" light is illuminated. Although your car may seem to run fine, it is important to have the issue addressed to prevent long-term problems. No need to panic - just make an appointment with us to get your vehicle checked out as soon as possible.
